About flared jeans
Flared jeans are fitted to the knee and open into a wide hem, with a stronger flare than bootcut.
Denim bottoms are the core of most denim ranges, developed to your fit block, fabric and finish.
Buyers who commonly request this style include fashion brands, retailers, startups and private-label businesses.
Design and fit
These are the decisions that define flared jeans and are settled at briefing and sampling.
- Point at which the flare begins
- Hem width and how much it moves
- Rise and inseam for the intended footwear
Send a size chart with waist, hip, rise, inseam and leg opening, or a reference pair to measure. Fit expectations differ by market, so state your target market.
Materials
Most jeans and trousers use midweight denim, roughly 10 to 14 oz per square yard, in rigid or stretch. Lighter fabrics suit summer and fashion styles. Heavier fabrics suit workwear and heritage styles.
- Rigid DenimDenim with no stretch fibre. Stiff when new, it moulds to the wearer and fades with use.
- Stretch DenimCotton denim with a small amount of elastane for movement and shape recovery.
- Raw DenimDenim left unwashed after dyeing, kept dark and stiff so it fades from wear.
- Selvedge DenimDenim woven with a self-finished edge, usually on narrow shuttle looms.
- Midweight DenimThe everyday denim weight, balancing structure, comfort and durability.
- Heavyweight DenimDense, hard-wearing denim for workwear, heritage jeans and structured pieces.
Which of these are available for your project is confirmed at quotation. See all materials on the materials pages.

Planning your order
What we need to quote
- Reference pair or sketch
- Hem width and length per size
- Quantities per size and colour, and your target market
- A photo or sketch of anything specific you want matched
Development considerations
- Allow for shrinkage in the pattern, or specify pre-shrunk fabric
- State target stretch and recovery if the fabric contains elastane
- Agree measurement tolerances so bulk matches the sample
- Check wash consistency across the whole batch, not only the first piece
Branding, labels and packaging
Labels, patches, hang tags, hardware finish and packaging can carry your brand. See how this works on the branding and packaging page, or read what private label covers.
Branding and packaging Private labelCare and use
Wash inside out in cold water to protect colour. Expect some shrinkage and fading with raw or lightly processed denim, and agree a pre-shrink standard at sampling.
Care labels and wash instructions are agreed with you at sampling so they match the final material and finish.

Questions buyers ask
Can you match a reference pair?
Yes. Send a reference pair or measurement chart and the pattern is developed to match, then refined at sampling.
Can the wash match a reference?
A reference garment or swatch helps most. The wash is agreed on the actual fabric at sampling, because the same wash can look different on different denims.
Can I choose the stretch level?
You can specify rigid or a target stretch. Sampling confirms comfort and recovery before production.
What do you need to quote flared jeans?
We usually ask for: reference pair or sketch; hem width and length per size; quantities per size and colour, and your target market. If you have less than that, send what you have and we will tell you what is missing.
Are prices, minimums and lead times listed?
Minimum order quantity starts at 50 units per style. Price and lead time depend on the specification, materials and quantity, so they are confirmed in your quotation.
